Mark pledge 85% victory for Jonathan in Benue

Senate President, David Mark, on Wednesday, promised to mobilise at least 85 percent of the Benue State people to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan, in the February 14 Presidential election.

Mark made the pledge in a statement signed on his behalf by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Paul Mumeh, ahead of Jonathan’s campaign in Makurdi, the state capital on Thursday.

He explained that  the PDP led federal government has provided enough dividend of democracy to the people of Benue state to guarantee victory overwhelmingly.

He noted that the state PDP has maintained a winning streak in the state since 1999 and has every good reason to remain faithful to the party.

He said, “Given another opportunity , the PDP led government would advance on its service delivery to the citizenry and make Nigeria much better.”

Mark appealed to the people of Benue to come out in large number to welcome President Jonathan to the State just as he canvassed for peaceful conduct of all the elections.

He stressed  that development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.

Meanwhile, Mark and Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue state on Wednesday, advanced the course of democracy in Nigeria as a precursor for service delivery  centered on people .

They noted that democracy should be anchored on justice, fairness and equity as the antidote to rancour and acrimony in the polity.

The Senate President and the Governor both vying for 2015 Senatorial seats for Benue South and Benue North East respectively spoke at the inauguration of the former’s 2015 senatorial bid at Och’Idoma’s palace square in Otukpo.

Mark told the crowded gathering to remain steadfast with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party  to enable it to consolidate on its people centred policies and programmes.

Mark said PDP  is the only national vehicle to deliver dividends of democracy to the citizenry and not the fringe parties or others with ideologies far from peace, unity and development.

He counseled the people against falling into the blackmail or antics of the opposition parties who  have the pedigree for promoting  rancour and violence in the polity.
